Helping Animals When You Don't Have Cash by Labavenger

How to help animals when you don´t have cash

I´ve heard it many times from all types of people: ¨I wish I can help, but I´m out of work¨, ¨I have too many expenses¨, the list of excuses goes on and on.

If you really want to help animals, money is not a problem. You only need to dedicate time and effort.

Here is a small list of whay you can do to help save animal lives:

a) Please install the free Pet Pardons app on your facebook page. Hit advocate daily to save as many animals as possible. You can also go to petpardons.com and look for other free ways to help animals.

b)  Tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, and tweet some more.
Believe it or not, crossposting lost/found, abused and urgent death row animals on social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and other sites does help and saves lives !

c) Install the free Save a Dog  app on your facebook page. It is a fun and easy way to help rescue animals on a daily basis.

d) Visit care2.org and click to help save pets, seals, big cats, wolves and others. It´s FREE and sponsors turn your clicks into donations that help animals. You can also sign animal welfare petitions.

e) Go daily to freekibble.com  answer a simple trivia question and  they will donate free food to shelter animals, even if your answer was wrong !

f) Make sure you visit The Animal Rescue Site  click once daily on the purple botton, they will donate food to rescued animals. You can also sign petitions, send e cards, etc. All of these actions help save animals lives, and cost zero to you !

Finally, I recommend you follow on Twitter:

@exposeDOGkiller, @happydawgblawg,  @DogRetrievers,  @Defenders,  @captiveanimals, @AbusedNYCHorse, @SaveLennox, @P4Animals,

@FreeTonyTiger, @UrgentPart2, @SaveLucy, @StopSlaughtrACC

and every single real animal lover you find on Twitter. Animal lives depend on you !!

Please remember to adopt/foster or rescue animals. DON´T buy animals from pet stores, websites or elsewhere, there are already too many animals waiting at shelters.  Animals at High Kill shelters are on DEATH ROW, and need you to act extra fast!
If you know somebody that wants to surrender a pet or a farm animal and has no intention of changing his mind,  ask that person to give his/her animals  only to an animal loving friend or family member. Animals that are surrendered to High Kill shelters or pounds are at high risk or getting killed at any time! Farm animals that don´t get rescued end up either abused or dead!
If you can´t adopt/foster or rescue, please crosspost as many urgent animals as you can. Don´t forget to tweet about abused, abandoned, lost/found pets and about saving farm animals and wildlife.  If you see a stray, lost/abandoned or abused animal DON´T look the other way, call a true animal lover or a real No Kill animal rescue and give food and water to the animal in the meantime.

Hero Dog by Labavenger

Ghost or angel dog?: Let´s go  with HERO dog !

Angel dog?

The white dog in the picture might well be a ghost or angel dog. The woman who took pictures of a stray mom and her three puppies says the white dog has a halo around him and never eats, he just watches over the family of stray dogs.

These innocent stray dogs live in the area around a church in Dallas and the white dog looks around for any potential dangers to the family of strays.

It doesn´t matter if you believe in ghosts, angels or anything else. What matters is that the white dog is a HERO, and the mom and her three puppies deserve to be adopted by a loving family ! The streets are not a safe place and these innocent animals might get in trouble soon!

So, if you can adopt/foster or rescue this family of stray dogs in Dallas, please email the woman who took pictures of these dogs:  tawanacouch@mac.com

Portable Dog Water Bottles by Labavenger

Portable Dog water bottles: Are they right for your pet ?

Dog Water Bottle - Portable - Carrying Strap and Belt Clip Included - Handi Drink 17Oz

If you and your pet like to take long walks and there is no clean water around what do you do ?

Well you could buy a portable dog water bottle. No matter which brand you buy, they all serve their purpose of keeping your pet hydrated. However most portable dog water bottles have  flaws. For starters they normally can hold from 12 up to 20 oz of water. So if your dog likes to drink a lot during long  walks you´ll run out of water before the walk is over.

I use one of these portable dog water bottles and my dog likes to take walks of up to two hours long. I usually end up without water in less than an hour so I have to hurry back home.

You could carry with you an additional water bottle, but it not be practical to carry more stuff around.

The second and maybe the biggest downside of most portable dog water dispensers is the fact that the drinking tray is way to narrow as you can see on the picture above.

My dog has a hard time putting her tongue in there to get a drink of water.

So if you are like me and my dog, and like to take long walks you are better off with a collapsible bowl like the Kyjen Outward Hound 48 Ounce Port a Bowl . This pawsome portable bowl is much bigger and your dog will have no problems drinking from it. What about the water you ask? Well I reccomend you get a good old fashioned cantine.

Don´t forget to always have your dogs on a leash.. Yes even while they are drinking water.

Hope these tips helped .

Keep Your Pet Safe from Poisons by Labavenger

Keep your pets safe from poisons !

A few weeks ago was the National Pet Poison Prevention Week, and it would be great for everybody who owns a loving pet to know which items can be harmful to your best friend.
So be sure to keep this list nearby and contact a vet you trust immediately if your pet gets in contact with any of these poisons:

a) Keep perfumes, make up and lady purses away from pets. Even if you don´t think purses are dangerous, well think again. The stuff inside a purse can make a dog or cat seriously ill.

b) Don´t let your pets have access to cigarette buds and ash trays. Nicotine is highly toxic to animals.

c) Every single car, cleaning and gardening  product, pesticides, detergents, and  sprays can also be very harmful to your pets.Keep those products high up and in a locked up drawer or shelf out of the reach of your pets.

d) Medications must be kept high up and in a locked drawer or shelf as well.

e) Finally keep your pets away from chocolates, antifreeze, raisins, ice cream and mushrooms. Keep all trask bins properly lid.

For a more extensive list of pet poisons please visit this link
If you have any doubts and are not sure if an item is toxic for your pet, the best you can do is keep it high up, locked in a drawer  and out of your dog or cat´s reach.
Call a vet you trust immediately if your pet got in contact with any poisons.

Japanese Farmer, Only Hope For Fukushima Animals by Labavenger

Column_new

If you think the world we live in is full of corruption, lies, and evil persons, then you are not alone. I´ve lost faith in humanity as well.

But from time to time comes along somebody so magnificent that makes you sleep better at night.

Yep, the superhero I´m writing about is a Japanese farmer that goes by the name of Naoto Matsumara. He does not have the ability to fly or throw laser beams through his eyes, but boy oh boy has he the power to heal animal broken hearts ! Yes this farmer is the only person who refused to leave the Town of Tomioka just 10 miles from the Fukushima plant.

For a year this man has taken care by himself  of all the abandoned cows, pigs, cats, dogs, etc. What he has found during this time is heartbreaking, animals left to starve dying slow deaths, waiting for an owner that is not coming back.

But this man is greater that Thor and Green Lantern combined. He lives in a town with no running water and according to Japanese authorities his body is ¨completely contamited¨ which only means one thing: death sentence for this awesome Japanese farmer.

But Matsumara shows no signs of backing off on his efforts. He leaves the town only to buy food for the innocent animals left behind and comes back just as quick to keep looking after them .

If you think there are no heroes in this world, think again ! If you have a few Dollars to spare and don´ t  know which cause to donate to, then please support : Guardians of Fukushima's Animals  Even if you can´t donate please take a little time to share this article on Twitter or any other social media sites. Maybe somebody else out there can donate to help this man feed those innocent animals.
